AVAC's advocacy is grounded in and defined by partnerships with civil society, researchers, policy makers and many other stakeholders working in HIV prevention research and implementation. Working in coalition, we develop and execute strategic action plans based on local and national context, concrete outcomes and best practices. Good Participatory Practice Initiative

UNAIDS and AVAC published Good Participatory Practice: Guidelines for biomedical HIV prevention trials, which set global standards for stakeholder engagement in HIV prevention research. AVAC has developed a range of materials to support GPP implementation in the context of HIV research and in other fields.

HIV Prevention Research Advocacy Fellows Program

This program provides support to emerging and mid-career advocates to implement projects related to biomedical HIV prevention research and implementation in their countries and communities.

National Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Initiatives

AVAC and our partners often work on specific, time-bound activities focused on effecting change in HIV prevention policy and implementation, or on preparing for the findings from an ongoing trial. This work often focuses on bringing together many groups at a national level to identify and execute priority actions. Our strategic initiatives also build a multi-country evidence base for change.

Prevention Research, Outreach, Advocacy and Representation (PxROAR)

PxROAR has two goals: to educate its members in HIV prevention research science, implementation and advocacy; and to provide a platform for specific prevention research advocacy campaigns.

Women's HIV Prevention Tracking Project (WHiPT)

The WHiPT project has supported grassroots women's groups in gathering evidence and building advocacy campaigns related to biomedical HIV prevention. The first WHiPT project focused specifically on voluntary medical male circumcision.
