He said most of the basic science now has been devoted to vaccine development or to finding a cure, and "we're not developing many new drugs. I think that might be dangerous, because I think we could probably still understand more about this virus if we could do some more truly basic discovery of science, which is not really happening," he said.

The dispenser known as Wisepill is a small medicine box with a GSM communication chip to send a message if a dose is missed. Wisepill is targeting HIV-uninfected adolescent women. The gadget is on trial at Centre for Microbiology Research at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri).

    The dating app Grindr has been sharing data on whether its users have HIV with two outside companies, according to BuzzFeed and the Norwegian research nonprofit SINTEF….The company’s security chief, Bryce Case, told Axios that he felt Grindr was being “unfairly ... singled out” in light of Facebook’s Cambridge Analytica scandal and said that the company’s practices didn’t deviate from the industry norm.
